Green Bay Packers: 5 Players critical to defeating Rams in Divisional Round
By Joe Kipp
2. Billy Turner, LT
Perhaps the most important player outside of Aaron Rodgers this week for Green Bay is offensive lineman Billy Turner. Now in his second season with the Packers, Turner has shown to be a reliable stalwart at any position along the offensive line.
Due to a variety of injuries to other players this season, Turner has been forced into action at right guard, right tackle and left tackle and has performed admirably everywhere. Turner missed the first two games of the season but has since started in 14 straight.
Turner will likely be the Packers’ starting left tackle once again against the LA Rams because of David Bakhtiari’s season-ending knee injury. Turner stepped in as the starter protecting Aaron Rodgers’ blind side in Week 17 against the Bears and held up pretty well considering the opponent.
Turner may have to face Rams’ outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, one of the NFL’s best speed rushers this season. Floyd had a career-high 10.5 sacks, but he’s questionable to play Saturday with a concussion. His presence would be greatly missed by Los Angeles if he were can’t play, especially since Green Bay is missing their best offensive lineman in Bakhtiari.
