Los Angeles Rams: 7-Round 2021 NFL mock draft after Divisional Round loss
The Rams secondary stepped up much better than expected this season around Ramsey. But this is another unit in which depth is lacking so adding an extremely versatile prospect like Keith Taylor could be of great value to the organization.
At 6-3, 195 pounds, Taylor is a good athlete and tackler who can move all around in the secondary. He may not be the most adept coverage player but he’s adequate in that capacity and can be deployed as a solid blitzer as well. Having a player with that type of movability could be a strong addition to this increasingly quality secondary in LA.
It may feel like we’re harping on the offensive line but, with losses, a need for depth and a need for more quality pieces, it’s necessary for the Rams to address. Tristen Hoge had a ton of experience at BYU and the 6-5, 310-pounder proved to be effective in that role. While not an elite athlete by any stretch, he’s effective in his role and can provide a good punch on the interior. For a depth piece on the interior added lade in the draft, Hoge is a nice prospect to bring into the fold.
If Tarron Jackson stays on the edge, there’s a good chance that he’ll have to shed some weight because the 6-2, 270-pounder out of Coastal Carolina is a monster but not one ideally made for an odd-front defensive scheme as the Rams play.
However, the prospect’s ability to generate power and win with his hand work is key for him to succeed in the NFL. He could potentially have some versatility to rush on the line as well. Either way, in the seventh round, it would be foolish for the Rams to ignore a player with Jackson’s talent and upside.
