Positive: Decision-making staff starting to take shape

After going through a search for a new head coach and general manager throughout the majority of the 2020 regular season, one positive for the Falcons now heading into the offseason is that those positions are starting to become filled and the decision-making staff is starting to take shape in Atlanta.

The fact those moves are starting to occur is a big positive for the organization as it prepares to figure things out this offseason both in the NFL Draft and during the free agency period leading up to the new year.

Most recently, the Falcons filled the head coaching position to lead the way of things on the sideline, going out and hiring Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith to take the helm of the team moving forward.

As Smith begins the process of filling out the rest of the coaching staff and hiring his assistants, the organization is also finalizing the search for its next general manager as well.

Earlier this week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Falcons have identified New Orleans Saints vice president and assistant general manager Terry Fontenot as the favorite to land that role.

The coaching staff and front office has their work cut out for them in trying to shape the future of the organization and try and turn things around in Atlanta, but it’s at least a positive that those changes are continuing to take place early on here in the offseason.
