Despite winning against the Colts and Ravens, the Buffalo Bills will need to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game to firmly silence their doubters once and for all.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Ravens in the Divisional Round and earned their place in the AFC Championship Game against a formidable opponent. The Kansas City Chiefs possess an imposing challenge with or without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Though the reigning Super Bowl MVP suffered a concussion in a win over the Browns, he will likely be playing for a chance to repeat as both AFC Champions and Super Bowl champions.

Mahomes’ situation will no doubt be covered throughout the week and the idea that the Bills are likely to lose the AFC Championship Game on the road will no doubt be brought up. In other words, Buffalo is a clear underdog ahead of their first conference title game since 1993. They are being doubted yet again.

Josh Allen has carried the Bills to this point, without question. But with an up-and-down defense and no semblance of a run game, people continue to question the postseason viability of Buffalo. In fact, many were picking the lower-seeded Ravens to upend them in the Divisional Round.

Having said that, the Chiefs are built much in the same way. So why is it that Buffalo is not given as much of a look as Kansas City? Though it may not be totally fair, the Bills must earn the respect that’s already given to the reigning champs.

The Buffalo Bills can make a statement with a win over the defending champions.

This will not be an easy task. In fact, the only quarterback to ever defeat Patrick Mahomes in the postseason is the arch-nemesis of the Buffalo Bills, Tom Brady. He, on the other hand, is off dealing with another opponent in Aaron Rodgers.

Would it not be great for Buffalo to not only go on the road and defeat Mahomes but potentially defeat Brady in the Super Bowl to earn the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy?

The idea is quite salivating and has Bills fans wanting to jump through tables at the very thought. But they must not look far ahead. There is work to be done and they must be fully prepared, both for the environment of Arrowhead Stadium and the onslaught Kansas City will be ready to throw at them.

The Buffalo Bills are a worthy opponent and they have proved it this season and postseason time and again. They still have their doubters as the underdogs to win the AFC Championship. But if they were to go on the road and punch a ticket to Super Bowl LV, that might be enough to get the naysayers to be silent.
