Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold predictions vs. Buccaneers in NFC Championship
2. Rodgers, Adams pair up for 3 TDs
There’s no denying that Rodgers played the worst game of his season against Tampa Bay, from every aspect. Not only did he completed just 16-of-35 passes on the day for only 160 yards but he threw two interceptions. For context, Rodgers threw both of those picks in the same quarter. In the other 67 quarters he’s played this year, he threw three interceptions.
Two things that have been a bit overlooked about that performance, however, are the way Rodgers held himself in the second half and the status of star wide receiver Davante Adams. In the case of the former, it was clear that Rodgers was just going through the motions in the second half when Green Bay was out of it. He was clearly not locked in, which hasn’t been the case in months.
As for Adams, the matchup in Tampa was his first game back since a two-game hiatus due to injury. And while he led the team in receiving with six catches for 61 yards, he was blatantly not at 100 percent for the game. That is no longer the case, though, as he went on to lead the league in receiving touchdowns (18) despite playing only 14 games.
Despite how well the Bucs secondary has played this season with young players stepping up, no defensive backs on the roster is capable of staying with Adams. As the Buccaneers try to match him up with Carlton Davis, Rodgers is going to consistently pepper his favorite target and will have immense success as the dynamic duo connects for six points on three separate occasions.
