Green Bay Packers: 7-Round 2021 NFL mock draft after another NFC Championship loss
Considering that Green Bay had to venture into the playoffs without David Bakhtiari, the Packers offensive line held their own. However, it did show that the team needs some serious depth at tackle and perhaps an eventual replacement for veteran Rick Wagner, who the team signed as a free agent last offseason.
Jackson Carman was the stalwart on the Clemson offensive line and thrives as a power blocker in the run game but he’s also a fine athlete with the ability to move well for his size. He can struggle with speed off the edge but, with help from a great unit around him, he could be a great depth piece for this unit.
People were up in arms over the fact that the Packers didn’t select a wide receiver in last year’s draft and rightfully so. In the simplest terms, that can’t happen again. Subsequently, they must look to add new elements to the passing offense, which is something Dyami Brown could help accomplish.
One thing Green Bay lacked was a consistent vertical option in the offense and, after averaging more than 20 yards per catch at North Carolina, Brown can clearly offer that. With great speed and downfield route-running to separate, he could add a new element to the offense that could really open things up further, a scary thought for the other 31 defenses in the league.
While Krys Barnes and Kamal Martin became unforeseen contributors at linebacker, Green Bay could still use further help at the position. And though he’s a unique player who must be used properly, Charles Snowden offers too much intrigue to pass up in the fourth round.
The Virginia product has length to burn at 6-7, 235 pounds. He’s reliable as a rangy run defender and can make some splash plays when in coverage. Snowden won’t wow as an athlete and needs to try and add some bulk to his frame to be more effective in the muck but his physical tools at the position make him a worthwhile project.
The interior of the Packers line is a strength of the team when healthy. But again, the depth was tested this season, which is why they look to further address that at the end of the fourth round with Sadarius Hutcherson.
Hutcherson’s power jumps off the film when you watch him but he needs to harness that with coaching in terms of leverage and technique on the interior of the line. He’s another player with clear tools to develop but how he is developed will be critical to determining how much he can actually contribute.
