49. Pick Analysis. WR. Florida. Kadarius Toney. 29. player. Scouting Report

The dropped two-point conversion from Equanimeous St. Brown loomed large for the Green Bay Packers as they fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game. But the problems for them started long before that play. Green Bay traded up in the first round for Jordan Love and then took A.J. Dillon in the second. That means they got a backup with each of their first two picks, which meant the 13-win team from 2019 was nearly identical to the team we saw in 2020.

They’re great, but they just didn’t get that extra firepower on offense to get over the hump, and that drop was a perfect reminder. Here, they try and fix that as they take Florida wideout Kadarius Toney with their first pick. Toney is a big-play threat who is capable of breaking the game open with his deep speed and RAC abilit. He would be a solid No. 2.

Now, the real question is if he can convince Matt LaFleur to keep the ball rather than punt it to Tom Brady with the game on the line.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Jaelan Phillips. player. 16. Miami. 30

One thing that really stood out for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night was how they couldn’t close the deal when they would get pressure on Patrick Mahomes. They have some players who can get into the backfield, but they lack that one defensive end who can take over a game.

Their hope is that A.J. Epenesa can develop into that role but as of now, he’s still a developmental player with one year under his belt. Instead of banking on him, the Bills use this pick on Jalean Phillips from Miami who really put it all together this season for the Hurricanes. He should be an impact player quickly and if Epenesa does take that next step, they just got a lot better — and a lot younger — on the egde.
