Earlier in the draft, the Chicago Bears drafted speed to help out the wide receivers corps. Late in the draft, they pick up another receiver who can help move the chains. At 6-4, 217 pounds, Trevon Grimes isn’t a speedster but he uses long strides to move.

Grimes has the ability to make big contested catches along the sidelines. He uses his big body to go up and over the defender and use his incredible body control to make the grab. He enjoys fighting to make a catch. Additionally, he is an avid run blocker, similar to Robinson.

With his big body, Grimes can be an effective red-zone target. In 2020, the Bears did a good job of targeting Jimmy Graham and Cole Kmet in the red zone, letting them go up and get the ball. Grimes can do the same. With more big targets on the field, it will be difficult for the opposing defense to defend them all one-on-one.

Grimes had a good week of practice at the Senior Bowl that culminated with him making a back-shoulder touchdown catch in the game.

After getting into just two games as a freshman at Ohio State in 2017, Grimes entered the transfer portal and ended up in Florida. There he made 97 receptions for 1,444 yards and 14 touchdowns.
