Super Bowl 2021: How many fans will be in attendance at Raymond James Stadium?
The Super Bowl in 2021 will be unprecedented amid the COVID-19 pandemic, so how many fans will be in attendance at Raymond James Stadium?
Entering the NFL season, there were viable questions of if we’d even make it to Super Bowl LV in early 2021 given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Incredibly, though, we’ve weathered the elements with no games missed — although several were reshuffled and rescheduled — and now it’s the Tampa Bay Buccaneers meeting the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium.
Even still, there are questions about the game. The COVID protocols have been ramped up to try and ensure the game will be played, to be sure. However, there was the big question of if fans would be in attendance for the game. When it became clear that there would be fans, the question morphed into how many would be in the stadium.
Now we have the answer to that question as the game is upon us on Sunday, Feb. 7.
What will the Super Bowl attendance be for the 2021 game in Raymond James Stadium?
There will be 25,000 fans allowed in Raymond James Stadium for Super Bowl LV in 2021 along with 30,000 cutouts to help the 65,890-seat stadium look to be a bit more filled than if it were just the living fans, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Moreover, the NFL announced recently that they would be inviting 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers to attend the Super Bowl to show their “ongoing gratitude”. Even better, these frontline workers will be given free tickets to the matchup between the Chiefs and Buccaneers.
This is a fantastic way to show appreciation for the healthcare workers while also getting fans in the stadium. Kudos to the league for this gesture amid the circumstances surrounding the Big Game.
Make no mistake, it’s going to be a different Super Bowl experience watching the contest play out with a stadium that is not filled to capacity with screaming fans. It’s going to be the lowest-attended matchup in the history of the game. Even still, at least there is going to be some real crowd noise involved.
