Hines Ward – MVP of Super Bowl XL

One year after Branch was named Super Bowl MVP, Hines Ward also accomplished that feat after his Pittsburgh Steelers knocked off Seattle in Super Bowl XL. Ward finished that game with five catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.

The touchdown that Ward had was in the fourth quarter and essentially put the game out of reach for the Seahawks, who had done nothing offensively that night. Ward had been clutch throughout the postseason that year and the touchdown he had in Super Bowl XL was his third of the playoffs.

It was pretty obvious that Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t going to win MVP, as he completed just nine passes for 123 yards and threw two interceptions. Heck, the touchdown pass that Ward caught wasn’t even from Big Ben, it was courtesy of Antwaan Randle El and that was his only pass attempt of the night.

Ward was the star of the night offensively and that’s saying something considering how badly his quarterback struggled.
