Tom Brady looks timeless leading Buccaneers to big halftime Super Bowl lead
Tom Brady’s first Super Bowl with the Buccaneers doesn’t have him looking like a 43-year-old after throwing three first-half touchdowns on the Chiefs.
At 43 years old, Tom Brady is not a spring chicken and is certainly not a stranger to playing in the Super Bowl. However, in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there were rightful questions as to whether age or familiarity with the moment would ultimately win out.
It turns out that playing in his 10th Super Bowl looked to be the winning formula for Brady. In the first half against the Chiefs, while the Bucs defense was defiant against one of the best offenses in the NFL, Brady was doing his own number to the Kansas City defense.
After Kansas City took to the 3-0 lead, Brady answered with a touchdown to a familiar face, tight end Rob Gronkowski:
That duo wasn’t done connecting, though. After another big stop against the Chiefs and some favorable field position (and calls), the Buccaneers quarterback looked for Gronk in the end zone and they connected yet again:
Then, just as the half was winding down and they were up against the clock, Brady pulled it out in the clutch once again. On a great route from Antonio Brown, he found the wide receiver right in the front of the end zone for the score to go up 21-6:
The years go on but the Super Bowl is still Tom Brady’s playground
Make no mistake, the numbers in the first half of Super Bowl LV weren’t necessarily eye-popping for Tom Brady, at least outside of the three touchdowns.
Having said that, it’s wild that this quarterback has been doing this type of thing for two decades at this point now. He’s now on a completely different team and in his early 40s and it doesn’t matter; he still looks like he’s playing a different game than everyone else and looks dominant in doing so.
At this point, we should be fully prepared to be sitting here in 2031 and having Tom Brady suit up for a new team and once again throwing for three touchdowns to dominate the first half.
