2021 NFL Mock Draft, 3 Rounds: Chiefs bolster O-line after Super Bowl loss
By Randy Gurzi
The Dallas Cowboys will have a tough decision to make when they’re on the clock at No. 10 in this draft. They have holes on the defensive line as well as at safety and cornerback. There’s hope they can get better at corner with Trevon Diggs playing well as a rookie and there’s no way they’re taking safety here — and with how much they seem to hate safeties, it’s a concern that they might not take one at all.
While that should mean their focus could turn to the defensive line, they also have to shore up their offensive line. What was once the strength of their team became a major weakness in 2020 as La’el Collins missed the whole season and Tyron Smith played in just two games.
Collins hasn’t had a checkered injury history, so he should be back and ready to go but there have to be serious concerns with Smith who has not been able to stay healthy since 2015. Dallas might need to cut ties, and that’s what happens in this mock as they take his replacement in Christian Darrisaw.
The Virginia Tech left tackle started for four seasons with the Hokies and improved every single season. He’s great in the run game and has the size and length to deal with NFL defensive ends. Should Dallas land him and fix that line, their offense might once again be dangerous — assuming they quit messing around and sign Dak Prescott already.
