Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 15. CB. Georgia. Eric Stokes. 28

No team has as big of a road ahead of them this offseason when it comes to figuring out their financial situation than the New Orleans Saints. General manager Mickey Loomis has been a wizard with the salary cap but this season, he has his work cut out for them.

New Orleans currently sits at roughly $79 million over the cap right now — and that’s after Drew Brees restructured his deal to kick the can down the road. This was needed but it could hurt them for a while as well since Brees will count against the cap even after he’s retired — and that could come this season.

The good news for them is their team is pretty talented even if Brees does hang it up. They could go with Taysom Hill as the starter or even bring back Jameis Winston. They’ve also got players such as Alvin Kamara, Cameron Jordan, and Michael Thomas under contract, but that could change too as they figure out the cap.

As for the draft, look for them to try and land another defensive back and in this 2021 NFL mock draft, the best available is Eric Stokes from Georgia. An outside corner for the Bulldogs, Stokes has the size to stick with any wideout and would be a great addition across from Marshon Lattimore.
