2021 NFL Mock Draft, 3 Rounds: Chiefs bolster O-line after Super Bowl loss

This is a tough one to figure out. Had the Philadelphia Eagles stuck with Doug Pederson, the Super Bowl-winning head coach likely would have wanted to move on from Carson Wentz. But since they cut ties with Pederson, they’re probably going to try and make sure Wentz has every chance to prove they were right in giving him the monster contract he signed less than a year before they drafted Jalen Hurts.

Hiring Nick Sirianni is proof that they will likely try and help Wentz as Sirianni spent the past three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts working with Frank Reich, who was the offensive coordinator under Pederson when Wentz looked like an MVP candidate. Clearly, they’re trying to bring in an offense similar to what he was excelling with during the 2017 campaign.

Now, they continue to cater to Wentz here as they forgo some of their other needs — such as defensive back — to put more pass-catcher on the field. With the No. 6 pick, they land Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith, who joins another first-round receiver in Jalen Reagor. While it might feel like overkill to take a wideout on day one in back-to-back seasons, the Eagles really need to since their receiving corps has been a major problem for several seasons now.
