Sometimes you don’t know a good thing when you have it. That’s what’s happening with the Dallas Cowboys who continue to kick the can down the road when it comes to paying quarterback Dak Prescott. Their star quarterback went from a fourth-round pick to one of the best in the business and Dallas still refuses to give him the deal he wants.

Sure, there are those who can argue against signing him to a massive contract and they might be able to point to what it does to the rest of the roster. But then again, the fact that Prescott was lost for the season with a broken ankle threw cold water on that argument.

Without No. 4 under center, the entire offense was anemic. That’s even with two 1,000-yard receivers, a former NFL rushing leader, and a top-tier rookie wideout in CeeDee Lamb. All of them were largely ineffective without Prescott which is proof that he needs to be signed.

Of course, there’s more to be done to become contenders in Big D. They need to fix their porous defense and the offensive line needs to get healthy. But even accomplishing both of those things mean nothing if they lose their quarterback just for the sake of pinching pennies.
