Way-too-early 2021 NFL Power Rankings: Rams, Packers, Chiefs chasing Buccaneers

There was no shortage of jokes when the Tennessee Titans paid Ryan Tannehill top-dollar to stick around as their starting quarterback. That was understandable since he had struggled in his last stop and was held back in the playoffs following the 2019 season. But then, Tannehill showed off his arm this season and reminded us all why he was a first-round pick back in 2012.
The veteran quarterback finished with 3,819 yards while completing 65.5 percent of his passes with a 33-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Now, in 26 games as the starter for the Titans, Tannehill has completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 6,561 yards with 55 touchdowns and only 13 picks. Most importantly, they’re 18-8 with him under center.
While it’s true Derrick Henry is still the straw that stirs the drink — if you will — Tannehill has turned them into a complete offense. His rapport with A.J. Brown is remarkable and should only get better going forward.
Tennessee’s defense ended up being their downfall this past season but that feels like something they can fix. Head coach Mike Vrabel is a strong defensive mind and has usually kept his team competitive on that side of the ball. Of course, he needs to add some talent at a few positions but there’s no reason to think they won’t be the team to beat in the AFC South yet again this coming season.
