Previous: 24th. Detroit Lions. 30. team. 50. .

There’s a lot of talk going around about how the Los Angeles Rams are going to look now that they’ve traded for Matt Stafford — and for good reason. The former Detroit Lions quarterback will fit well with that team, but it’s not as if the Lions are going to regret this deal. In fact, it’s probably safe to assume they could wind up winning the trade between the two teams.

Detroit wasn’t a good team in 2020 even with Stafford so it’s not as if they were going to suddenly get it figured out. Sure, new head coach Dan Campbell and his knee-biting ways could bring positive change but it’s also likely he was going to get a different quarterback anyway.

Now, they have the ammunition to not only do this, but they can build around him now with their bevy of picks acquired for Stafford. On top of that, they even have a bridge quarterback in Jared Goff, who is rather overpaid but can at least make them competitive on offense until they find their future starter.

Having said all that, 2021 is not going to be the year they put it all together. They need time to make their selections and get their team sorted out — and we have to also figure out if Campbell’s career as a coach will go better than his press conference which was something to behold. Watching his presser felt as though every single 1990s cliche came together for one unforgettable media session, and that might not be a good thing.
