After five seasons with Doug Marrone coaching the team — and posting a record of 23-43 during that span — the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to pull the plug. Now, they will be turning things over to Urban Meyer, the former collegiate coach who has had a ton of success at the NCAA level.

Meyer won at Bowling Green and Utah before moving to the SEC and coaching the Florida Gators. He won two titles there and then won another with Ohio State. Now, he tries his hand at the NFL, and while the roster he has might not be great, they’re set to draft Trevor Lawrence which means they finally have the most important position on the team figured out.

Even so, there will be a couple of questions surrounding Meyer. One is whether or not his style will work in the NFL. Other successful collegiate coaches have struggled to make it in the NFL, but having a signal-caller such as Lawrence could make the difference.

Another concern will be his health. Meyer has stepped away from coaching in the past, citing health concerns. It’s unlikely that there will be less of a physical toll on him in the NFL than in college, so it’s fair to ask whether or not he’s in this for the long haul.
