Super Bowl stats: 12 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception

By far the best player in the stadium on Sunday night, Devin White was everywhere for Tampa Bay. White and fellow linebacker Lavonte David made their case for being the best linebacking duo in the league and it would be hard to say they are wrong.

Accounting for 12 total tackles, eight of which were solo and two of which were for loss, White set the tone for what was a dominant, hard-hitting and aggressive performance by the entire Tampa Bay defense. After hitting everyone and everything all night, White put the cherry on top with a goal-line interception to officially conclude the postseason.

While it may not have seemed that way, the Chiefs offense actually outgained the Bucs offense in terms of total yardage — but the Bucs held them to just 3-of-13 on third down, 1-of-3 on fourth down and 0-of-3 in the red zone. White’s instincts and lateral speed were on full display as he was seemingly everywhere and was always in the camera frame of the tackle. Both in run defense and in pass coverage, he was, in a word, swarming.

In a game dominated by defense, if there was one name to represent their efforts with a Super Bowl MVP trophy it would be Devin White. Only in his second year, Tampa Bay has the cornerstone to their defense for the next ten years, with 140 tackles on the year and a second-team All-Pro nod, the future is bright for the LSU product.
