Russell Wilson trade landing spot No. 3: New Orleans Saints

There haven’t been many questions in the bayou as it pertains to quarterback for quite some time. For well over a decade, the New Orleans Saints have been stable and confident in their signal-caller with Drew Brees at the helm. But with the veteran and future Hall-of-Famer almost surely set to retire, that’s about to change.

When Brees went down with injury in the 2019 season, it was Teddy Bridgewater that filled in. This past season with another ailment popping up, Taysom Hill stepped in. Now there are reports that the Saints hope that Jameis Winston can take up the mantle after a season spent on the bench but learning the system.

All that tells me, though, is that New Orleans doesn’t have a definitive answer while also having a roster that is otherwise constructed to try and win a Super Bowl right now. And for a team that has been notoriously aggressive with trying to keep that title window open, they might make more sense than anyone as a possible Russell Wilson landing spot.

The notion of Wilson working with head coach Sean Payton is a mouth-water proposition, especially for Saints fans as the brilliant mind could unlock some possibly unreal play from the quarterback. As they search for answers, if they could find one in Wilson, it’s hard to imagine a price they wouldn’t pay to Seattle.
