The Dallas Cowboys had a season to forget in 2020 but can improve dramatically this season, especially if they landed some of these dream free agent targets

When the Dallas Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy ahead of the 2020 season, it seemed to be a perfect fit. Their roster had been right on the edge of breaking out, and McCarthy came in with a Super Bowl ring in his back pocket.

He was supposed to help push them over the top but instead, the team struggled early with inconsistent play followed by a litany of devastating injuries. They were without their starting quarterback, left tackle, and right tackle for the majority of the season and had several other injuries all over the roster.

In the end, they fell to 6-10 and now have a lot of work to do. Of course, the main thing they need to do is improve some of their talent which they can do in free agency. At this point, their top priority has to be locking up Dak Prescott, but as far as outside additions, we dive into five dream targets who could vastly improve the Cowboys chances in 2021.

5. J.J. Watt, Defensive End

It might be hard to convince J.J. Watt to join the Cowboys simply due to his high character. No, this isn’t implying Dallas is an immoral team, but Watt is very fond of his fan base in Houston and those fans do not like the Dallas Cowboys.

Watt might see putting the star on as a slap to their faces,  but that doesn’t mean the Cowboys shouldn’t try to lure him in. Watt isn’t the player he was when he was winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award every season, but he’s still a dominant pass rusher.

He would be a great addition alongside DeMarcus Lawrence and can even kick inside to tackle on third downs which would put him on the same field as Lawrence and Randy Gregory. That could be a lot of fun to watch.
