2. Shaquill Griffin, Cornerback

For several years now, the Dallas Cowboys have been modeling their defense after the Seattle Seahawks. They’ve been incredibly unsuccessful in this endeavor but that hasn’t deterred them in the slightest. Instead, they doubled-down and now added Dan Quinn as their defensive coordinator, who rose to prominence as the defensive coordinator in Seattle when they won the Super Bowl.

With Quinn now in charge of the defense, we already looked at adding one of his former players but they could also look to add someone from his former team. Shaquill Griffin is set to hit the open market after spending the past four seasons with the Seahawks.

A former third-round pick out of UCF, Griffin started nearly every game for Seattle since being drafted, and after a couple of rough seasons to start his career, he began to come into his own in 2019. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after racking up 65 tackles and 13 pass defenses. This past season, he added another 63 tackles and a career-high three picks.

While Griffin would fit the defensive scheme in Dallas, there would be some concerns. He’s struggled at times with injuries, which affected his play at times in 2020. Still, when healthy he’s a top-tier cornerback and could vastly improve the frustratingly bad Dallas secondary.
