1. Justin Simmons, Safety

While Keanu Neal could make sense for the Dallas Cowboys, he’s not the only safety on the market that they should be looking into. In fact, there’s another possible addition out there who is one of the premier free agents at any position.

Justin Simmons was a third-round pick out of Boston College who developed into one of the best safeties in the NFL. As a rookie in 2016, he started just three games but still showed off his skills with 30 tackles, four pass defenses, and two interceptions. He then took over as a full-time starter in 2017 and has continued to turn out impressive numbers.

Simmons was hit with the franchise tag ahead of 2020 and responded with 96 tackles and a career-high five picks. That was the third season in a row with at least 90 tackles for Simmons and he has never had fewer than two picks ‚— with 16 total in his five seasons.

For the Cowboys, that has to be the most enticing part of Simmons’ game. They struggle like no other team in creating turnovers and while it might cost a lot to add Simmons, he has proven time and again that he can get his hands on the football.

His ability to generate turnovers while also playing a position that has been a need since the early 2000s makes Simmons a perfect fit in Big D.
