2021 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles target DeVonta Smith, Bears settle on Mac Jones

There was a time where the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers defense was one of the toughest in the league to deal with. The reason for that was the pass-rushing duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. Bosa joined the team in 2016 as a first-round pick and had 10.5 sacks despite missing the first four games of the season.
Playing across from him was their veteran edge rusher, Melvin Ingram who added eight sacks. Then in 2017, Ingram tied his career-high with 10.5 sacks and Bosa set a personal best with 12.5. Since then, they’ve continued to play well together but this past season, Ingram missed nine games and will likely be gone in free agency.
Now, Bosa becomes the experienced veteran and the Chargers add a young pass rusher to develop across from him in Kwity Paye from Michigan. Paye looks like he was built to play defensive end in the NFL at 6-foot-4 and 277-pounds. He’s also an ascending talent who is still improving as a player.
He’s never had more than 6.5 sacks in a single season but the potential is there for him to be even better in the pros once he puts all his athletic tools together on the field.
