Texas. Samuel Cosmi. 19. 58. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. player

The Washington Football Team needs to get their quarterback situation figured out but after giving Taylor Heinicke a two-year extension, it looks as though they might try and see what they have with him and Alex Smith.

Heinicke was a revelation as he played phenomenally against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to be the franchise guy. As for Smith, he just won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award after returning from a horrific leg injury.

Smith never seems to light the world on fire with his play but he does win. And so far in Washington, he has a career record of 11-5 and is 61-31 since leaving San Francisco and is 80-36-1 since the 2011 season. In short, they’ll likely roll with Smith for one more season and see where the chips will fall.

Of course, they know they need to do a better job of protecting him which is why they take Samuel Cosmi here at No. 19. Cosmi has experience at both left and right tackle and is solid in the passing game but great when it comes to run blocking. He fits what head coach Ron Rivera is looking for and should help the entire offense improve.
