Scouting Report. Zach Wilson. 4. player. Pick Analysis. QB. BYU. 44

Should the Atlanta Falcons move on from Matt Ryan (yes, they should) or should they keep him and let him mentor a young prospect (they probably will). That’s the question they’re going to need to answer this offseason as new head coach Arthur Smith is taking over this coming season.

Smith will be installing his own offense and the Falcons as a whole need to be turning the page. Matt Ryan gave them a real shot at a Super Bowl and while he can still get the job done even at the age of 36 (which he will turn in May), the fact is, this team’s Super Bowl window has closed.

Ryan and the Falcons have been struggling in recent seasons with three-straight losing campaigns. Now, on the heels of a 4-12 record, the Falcons could try and get future picks by trading their remaining stars away. Being able to do so would mean that they have another option ready to go, which is why they use the No. 4 pick on Zach Wilson out of BYU.

Wilson got better every season for BYU and really took off in 2020. During his final season, Wilson had 3,692 yards with 33 touchdowns against just three picks. He added another 10 touchdowns on the ground to show he can get it done with his legs as well when the play breaks down. It won’t be easy to turn the page, but adding Wilson would be the right move for this franchise.
