Ohio State. Justin Fields. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 30. QB

There are still rumors that the New York Jets could swing a trade for Deshaun Watson. The current Houston Texans signal-caller is upset with the only pro team he has ever played for and it’s understandable why.

Houston has failed to put the right talent around Watson and they also traded away DeAndre Hopkins — the only player on offense who was close to Watson’s caliber.

While it would make sense for the Jets to trade for Watson, there’s also an argument that they shouldn’t give up the stockpile of picks it would take to acquire him. That would include this pick, which they could use to land another starting quarterback instead, which is what they do with the selection of Justin Fields from Ohio State.

Should the Jets pass on a chance at Watson and take Fields, they wouldn’t be getting some consolation prize. Fields is a legit dual-threat who can make all the throws and is dangerous with his legs. His ceiling is high enough that he would likely be the No. 1 pick in the draft had it not been for Trevor Lawrence who is just an elite prospect.

New York has not had a starter they can trust for a long time and while Sam Darnold has shown flashes, it’s probably best for both sides to move on this season and start fresh with a rookie such as Fields.
