There’s no question that the Raiders need help along the interior of the offensive line. The injury bug got the best of them in 2020, but the current depth still isn’t anything to get excited about.

Rodney Hudson is one of the best centers in the NFL, but both guard positions could use some upgrading, especially after the team released veteran right guard Gabe Jackson this week. Jackson was a long-time starter for the Raiders and was actually a top-10 guard during his peak. At left guard, the team still has 37-year-old Richie Incognito.

Incognito apparently plans to play in 2021, so the left side of the interior appears to be locked in. However, right guard is a major hole, especially for an offense that wants to run the ball a lot with Josh Jacobs. Free agent Brandon Scherff would fit in perfectly at right guard for Las Vegas.

Scherff, a former top five draft choice by the Washington Football Team, was named a first-team All-Pro selection in 2020. The four-time Pro Bowler is unquestionably one of the best players in the NFL, regardless of position.

Signing Scherff would upgrade both the Raiders’ running game and passing attack. Both Jacobs and Derek Carr would be happy campers if this signing happened.
