Green Bay Packers 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft revamps O-line
With Linsley likely leaving in free agency, the most likely option is that Elgton Jenkins will move to center as he has experience there. But that then leaves a possible hole at guard, which means Green Bay needs some depth.
Jack Anderson is coming off a season where injury limited him to just three games but he could be a nice piece for Green Bay. Though not a great athlete, he has a nice build and was an effective starter for Texas Tech throughout his career. With some NFL coaching, he can be a great depth piece on the interior.
It would be great for the Packers to be able to address the linebacker earlier in the 2021 NFL Draft but the fact of the matter is that it’s a shallow position in this class. Derrick Barnes, though, might be a nice value pick in the fifth round. With experience at Purdue as both a traditional inside backer and rushing off the edge, he can be molded either direction with solid athletic traits and a good football IQ.
Cornerback is one of the most difficult holes to fill through the draft as it is so often a crap shoot after the first two rounds. Thus, it would behoove Green Bay to take a dart throw at someone like Bryan Mills.
Starring at North Carolina Central in college, Mills is a long corner with a slight frame that plays bigger than the 180 pounds he measures in at. Having said that, his ability to add some muscle and also work on his footwork raises his ceiling a great deal and he could be a great depth piece for a secondary that needs it.
With Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos in the fold, the Packers are set up nicely with their starting safeties. Depth at the position could be addressed and someone like Brady Breeze could have added value as well. His coverage skills aren’t anything to write home about but he’s effective in run support and could be an immediate special teams contributor.
Taking one final dart throw at linebacker as Green Bay needs depth, they use their final pick in this 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft to take Erroll Thompson out of Mississippi State.
Thompson isn’t a terrific athlete and often plays with too much aggressiveness. When it comes to a late-round pick, though, you would rather have a player who is effective against the run that needs to be dialed back than someone who needs to be coached up. Thompson fits that mold and could be a nice value pick.
