A blockbuster trade reunited Carson Wentz with Frank Reich and Indianapolis Colts fans should feel good, adding these four prospects from the 2021 NFL Draft will feel better.

After banking on Philip Rivers for a year and then seeing the veteran announce his retirement, the Indianapolis Colts turned the page at quarterback by reuniting head coach Frank Reich with Carson Wentz by way of a blockbuster trade. That trade, however, sets them up nicely moving forward.

Indianapolis only had to give up a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and a second-round pick that’ll likely turn into a first-round pick in 2022. That’s nothing compared to what Wentz can offer them under the guidance of his old offensive coordinator. They have everything that he needs to succeed starting with the offense.

Offensively, the Colts have a power running game led by Jonathan Taylor and a pass-catching back in Nyheim Hines. On the outside, he has the emerging Michael Pittman Jr., who flashed as a rookie.  Additionally, they have a ton of cap space even after the trade, so free agency could play a big role in helping them improve. Throw in a top-10 defense and the team is in good shape.

If Wentz can find his game, the Colts have a team that can contend, especially if they take the right pieces in the 2021 NFL Draft. Looking at the first five rounds and the first four picks for the Indianapolis Colts, these prospects would be perfect fits at each spot.

Indianapolis Colts Round 1 draft fit: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State

The Colts have to replace Anthony Castonzo; good left tackles aren’t easy to come by via free agency or trade. Grabbing an unpolished gem from Wentz’s alma mater with the No. 21 pick is a great grab for the Colts.

North Dakota State’s Trey Lance is one of the best quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft. One of the reasons for his unblemished success was Dillon Radunz, the guy protecting his blindside. Since he’s coming from a small school, he’s one of the best tackle prospects that’s undoubtedly flying under the radar.

The nearly 6-6 tackle will have a bit of a learning curve given his lack of competition but that’s okay. He’s strong, has length and shows great lateral agility. He does a solid job remaining upright and shows quick powerful hands.

Moreover, he dominates in the run game. With a power back like Taylor and a player like Hines who can exploit the edge, Radunz is perfect. He mauls the man in front of him and keeps his eyes and head up when getting to the second level. He could be the Colts’ left tackle of the future.
