NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Alijah Vera-Tucker → Kelechi Osemele

Recently, USC has not been the powerhouse program that they’ve been in the past. Despite this, they still seem to churn out a number of talented offensive line prospects each and every year.

Alijah Vera-Tucker is the guy to pay attention to heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. Vera-Tucker spent his career at USC lining up as both a guard and a tackle. But at the NFL level, his best fit will likely be at the guard position.

Vera-Tucker has a bit of a lighter build than most pro offensive linemen at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds. However, this allowed him to display an impressive amount of athleticism during his time as a blocker at USC.

Why he compares to Kelechi Osemele:

We’re definitely not comparing the size of Vera Tucker to veteran NFL offensive lineman Kelcehi Osemele as the pro blocker is a much larger human (6-foot-5, 330 pounds).

But Osemele is a player who has the capabilities to line up as a tackle or a guard just like Vera-Tucker. Osemele has spent the majority of his NFL career as a guard, but he’s done fine when he’s been asked to switch over to offensive tackle in the past.

Like Vera-Tucker, Osemele has been able to utilize his long arms to keep his assignments in front of him, and then his strength has come in handy when he’s been asked to move people out of the way while blocking downfield.
