NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Kwity Paye → John Randle

If Kwity Paye were a movie, he’d be a slasher film. The former Michigan pass rusher has a certain violent relentlessness about him when he’s on the field and it resulted in a lot of impressive plays.

Paye is bigger than most of the edge rushers available in this year’s draft pool, but he’s just as quick as basically all of them. During his time at Michigan, he displayed the ability to shed multiple blocks, make plays in the offensive backfield, and ruin the life of opposing quarterbacks.

During his college career, he pretty much relied on his speed and his strength to get by opposing blockers. If he’s able to add a few pass-rushing moves once he’s in the NFL, he could cause a lot of trouble for a number of offensive lines around the league.

Why he compares to John Randle:

For those who are familiar with Hall of Famer, John Randle, some might be wondering why Paye would be compared to a guy who lined up as a defensive tackle during his NFL career.

This is a fair point, but the comparison is more related to the playing style of Randle and Paye. As is the case currently with the former Michigan pass rusher, when Randle was on the field, he displayed a high motor and an unwillingness to give up on a play.
