NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Travis Etienne → Alvin Kamara
It was a pretty big surprise when Travis Etienne chose to return to Clemson last season for his senior year because he likely would’ve been a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
But now he’s eligible for this year’s draft and some team is going to get a versatile rookie running back that can make an instant impact. Since he excelled as both a rusher and a pass-catcher while he was at Clemson, Etienne has a lot to offer at the pro level.
He certainly displayed a nose for the end zone during his college career as he scored a grand total of 78 touchdowns. Etienne is the top-rated running back by many in this year’s draft pool and it’s not difficult to understand why.
Why he compares to Alvin Kamara:
It took a little while for Etienne to establish himself as a receiving threat out of the backfield during his time at Clemson. But once he did, it just became something that made him that much more dangerous.
Alvin Kamara has proven himself as a very versatile running back during his career in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. It doesn’t really matter how Kamara gets the football in his hands, he’s likely going to make a play whenever he’s given the opportunity.
Etienne had a similar quality about him during his four seasons at Clemson and he’s hoping this will carry over to his career in the NFL.
