NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Zach Wilson → Aaron Rodgers

A year ago, few even knew who Zach Wilson was. Now, after an impressive junior season at BYU that saw him throw for 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns, and three interceptions in addition to rushing for 254 yards and another 10 scores, he’s vaulted himself into first-round consideration.

Wilson is expected to be one of the first few quarterbacks to come off the board during this year’s draft and he’s got the potential to make an instant impact depending on who ends up selecting him.

Wilson might be the most enjoyable quarterback to watch from this year’s pool of passing prospects. He showed a ton of creativity last season at BYU to keep plays alive and create magic with his mobility. This aspect of his game is something that should definitely help him at the next level.

Why he compares to Aaron Rodgers:

Getting compared to the reigning NFL MVP is already very impressive. But if Wilson can have even half of the pro career Aaron Rodgers has had, he should view it as an accomplishment.

The innovation out on the field is what links these two quarterbacks together. Wilson’s willingness to scramble around for however long it takes to make a play is something that we see from Rodgers every Sunday.
