NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Jaylen Waddle → Tyreek Hill

Five years ago, very few people would have thought that the highest-rated wide receiver prospect to enter the NFL Draft would be listed at 5-foot-10 and 182-pounds. But Jaylen Waddle is too talented to push him down the board just because he’s smaller than the average pro receiver prospect.

What Waddle doesn’t have in size, he makes up for with his blazing speed. During his three seasons at Alabama, the talented receiving prospect averaged 18.9 yards per catch. He did this while playing in a conference that is consistently regarded as the toughest in the nation.

In addition to his receiving skills, Waddle is also a very good return-man, especially when it comes to returning punts. During his career at Alabama, he managed to take two punts back the other way for touchdowns while averaging an impressive 19.3 yards per punt return.

Why he compares to Tyreek Hill:

These days, everyone likes to compare a smaller wide receiver that has super speed to current Kansas City Chiefs pass-catcher Tyreek Hill. But for Waddle, Hill is really the only pro receiver who he can be compared to.

Like Waddle, Hill has been able to make up for his smaller size by just blowing by every defender who tried to cover him. It’s something that most are expecting Waddle to do as well once he steps onto an NFL field for the first time.
