NFL Draft 2021 Pro Comparisons: Azeez Ojulari → Yannick Ngakoue

Well, what do we have here? Another edge rusher? What a surprise.

As a member of Georgia’s defense in 2020, Azeez Ojulari really emerged as one of the top pass rushers in the nation. In 10 games, Ojulari was able to accumulate 31 tackles (12.5 for a loss), 9.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

He was just as much of a disrupter as he was a pass rusher and this is something that has NFL teams intrigued about his potential in the league. At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, Ojulari could use some bulking up to withstand the physicality of the pro level. Once he packs on a few more pounds, NFL offensive lines should have a difficult time keeping him out of the backfield.

Why he compares to Yannick Ngakoue:

Anyone who has watched Yannick Ngakoue during his time in the league with either the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, or Baltimore Ravens knows that he has always been a pass rusher that brings much more to the table than just sacks.

In addition to his 45.5 sacks since 2016, Ngakoue has come up with an impressive 18 forced fumbles. He’s forced at least four fumbles in four of his five years in the league.

The similar ability to force fumbles in 2020 is what has some comparing Ojulari to Ngakoue. Both are also a similar size and if Ngakoue has been able to be productive at 6-foot-2 and 246 pounds, it should open the eyes of a few pro teams that believe the former Georgia pass rusher is too undersized to be effective at the next level.
