2021 NFL Mock Draft: Zach Wilson rises to Jets at No. 2 in 3-round projection

Justin Herbert had a rookei season for the ages, throwing for 4,336 yards with 31 touchdowns and just 10 picks. His great performance left two questions to consider. One, how did the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff thought Tyrod Taylor should ever start over him — and that could be a reason there was a change this offseason.
Two, how did Herbert not get selected before Tua Tagovailoa? Sure, the Alabama prospect had some solid moments but had way more questions than Herbert and a littany of injuries as well.
Alas, the Chargers are glas things went the way they did, because they have a quarterback who now owns the rookie record for touchdown passes and a bright future. The only thing that could derail his prospects in the NFL is if the Bolts don’t build a talented enough team around him.
With this pick, they are showing that they’re going to do all they can to keep Herbert happy in Los Angeles. Rashawn Slater is a future Pro Bowl offensive lineman and adding a player of his skill level on the line is always a smart move when you’re trying to make things easy for a young quarterback to grow as a player.
