Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB. Najee Harris. 16. player. Alabama. 32

After signing J.J. Watt, the Arizona Cardinals have now taken two big superstars away from the Houston Texans in back-to-back seasons. Of course, in 2020 they landed DeAndre Hopkins in a blockbuster trade, which will have a larger impact than Watt.

Hopkins came over in the prime of his career and still has some of his best football ahead of him. As for Watt, he’s playing on the back-nine and has been dealing with injuries throughout the years but he can still produce at a high level. He’s also only on a two-year deal, which is probably the perfect amount of time for him to have been signed.

Now, the Cardinals get to work in the draft trying to continue to build up their roster to make a run in one of the tougher divisions in the NFL. They already have Seattle and San Francisco (who was in the Super Bowl following 2019 so they shouldn’t be discounted after one bad year) to contend with, but now they have a revamped Los Angeles Rams team that just added Matthew Stafford.

In order to combat the teams they’re going to face, the Cardinals use this pick on Najee Harris. Believe it or not, the selection of the Alabama running back will help both their offense and defense in 2021. On offense, they have a 230-pound back who can carry the load. As for their defense, Harris can help the Cards sustain long drives and whenever he moves the chains, the defense gets more time to rest and has less time to try and hold off their opponent.
