2022 NFL free agency: Terron Armstead to Minnesota Vikings
Each year, it seems the Minnesota Vikings make attempts to fix their offensive line, and each year, the results end up being less than desired.
The 2021 NFL Draft is deep with O-line talent, and one figures the Vikings will make a lot of attempts to finally get this right. But even then, one draft class won’t fix or upgrade all the problems here.
So it wouldn’t be a shock if Minnesota uses its relatively limited cap resources in 2022 to grab a proven veteran like three-time New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead to bolster this unit.
Armstead has been a regular mainstay for the Saints’ high-powered offense and has three consecutive Pro Bowl nods to his impressive accolade list. Plus, already in salary-cap hell, it’ll be awfully tough for New Orleans to keep Armstead around as it looks to move on from the quarterback Drew Brees era.
If anything, the Saints will need to get younger and cheaper, while the Vikings will need to add some experienced veteran leadership along their O-line.
Armstead, who’ll turn 30-years-old before the start of the upcoming season, still has at least a few more years left in his career and is playing at as high a level as ever. And he won’t be as expensive as some of the other younger free-agent options out there on the market right now.
