2022 NFL free agency: Tom Brady to New England Patriots
*Updated Oct 1st – Brady signs extension with Buccaneers that will keep him with the squad through 2023*
Well, what else is there for the GOAT to do?
At this point after winning his unprecedented seventh Super Bowl, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady could play until he’s 50-years-old. And it would be hard to put it past him.
But after proving he’s more than capable of winning a Lombardi Trophy without being under the leadership of Bill Belichick, the only thing essentially left for Brady to accomplish is to “run it back” and pull off yet another back-to-back Super Bowl win.
After that, he’s “beaten the game on hard.” There’s nothing left to accomplish.
Brady’s deal with the Bucs will come to an end, and there’s likely to be a share of teams willing to sign him. Maybe even Tampa Bay still.
Yet Brady’s initial plan was to play until he was 45-years-old, and he’ll hit that age once his current contract expires.
So, yes. He’ll once again sign with the team where he built his legacy.
But it’ll be one of those honorary one-day contracts so he can retire a Patriot.
