2022 NFL free agency: Kyler Fuller to NY Jets

It’s looking more and more like the Chicago Bears are going to be rolling with a rookie quarterback in 2021, if not as a starter, then at least as someone to help the franchise long term.

And while that frees up a good deal of cash to re-sign a quality veteran like cornerback Kyle Fuller, it seems to be a stronger possibility he’d want to join another team in a better context.

The NY Jets aren’t exactly on the rise right now. But armed with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft this year, oodles of cap space this season and next, and having landed the hottest head-coaching candidate on the market, Robert Saleh, the 29-year-old Fuller’s interest level should be looking more towards New York than staying home in Chicago.
Especially if the Bears are in flux.

Fuller would be an excellent addition to nearly any team seeking help within the secondary. Boasting 11 interceptions over the last three years and a whopping 31 pass breakups during that span, Fuller is playing at as high a level as nearly any defensive back in the league right now.

If Gang Green makes any sort of headway under Saleh in 2021, the Jets could become a destination for top defenders.

And the two-time Pro Bowler would be an excellent addition to a rebuilding defense on the rise.
