After failing with Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles, the Bears made another desperate move to find a quarterback by signing Andy Dalton.

When it comes to the Chicago Bears, desperately searching for a quarterback is a habit, and they did it again by signing Andy Dalton.

The former Bengal and Cowboy signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Bears, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This move ensures that the Bears will be indeed moving on from Mitchell Trubisky. Schefter also reported the move came after Chicago attempted to pry Russell Wilson away from the Seahawks

But from the look of it, it’s a move that will likely not please the tough crowd in Chicago. For one, it doesn’t guarantee that the quarterback play in Chicago will get any better. Furthermore, it looks more and more like a decision bent on despair as the franchise continues to have trouble searching for the right answer at the signal-caller.

The Chicago Bears have not learned their lesson when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks.

At first glance, signing Andy Dalton doesn’t really make any sense as it’s quite apparent the general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy are on the hot seat this year.

Furthermore, didn’t the Bears behave this way when they traded up for Trubisky over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. Additionally, what about the trade for Nick Foles when his career has been average outside of one Super Bowl run?

Moreover, despite the moderate amount of success that Dalton has had in his career, he has yet to win a playoff game. Additionally, he wasn’t able to lead the Cowboys to the playoffs in a year where the NFC East was record-wise, the worst division in football. Given that the Bears play in a crowded NFC North, subpar quarterback play usually results in an early end to the season.

The Chicago Bears are desperate. They needed a quarterback. And they chose to roll with Andy Dalton. Another year, another quarterback that will have Bears fans excited at times but disappointed in the end. That’s cold.
