Washington bolsters offensive personnel with Curtis Samuel
The Washington Football Team likes to have speed on the offense, and Curtis Samuel fits the bill.
When defenses have to go up against Curtis Samuel, they have to be aware of his speed and ability to make yards when the ball is in his hands. Now, the Washington Football Team will be the beneficiary of his services after the former Panther signed a three-year, $34.5 million deal, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This move is stunning considering how a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars was a team that was thought to be interested given the Ohio State and Urban Meyer connection. Instead, it will be Ron Rivera and former college teammate Terry McLaurin who get to enjoy Samuel’s presence and boost to the offense that will help compliment the talented defense that helped lead Washington to a division title a year ago.
While the quarterback position and the left side of the offensive line are left with a level of uncertainty, the rest of the roster seems to be in proper condition, especially the receiving corps, thanks to the addition of Samuel.
Curtis Samuel adds another dimension to the Washington offense that will translate to success.
Last season, Washington saw firsthand how much Curtis Samuel could change the game and spark an offense. When Carolina strolled into town, Samuel ran for 52 yards on seven carries and caught five passes for 106 yards. In other words, Samuel is a swiss army knife, and when used correctly, it can be quite powerful.
Given how Rivera likes to have big-play wide receivers on his roster, Samuel is tailor-made for the situation. Also, it helps to have playmakers on the outside when the quarterback situation is unknown. Additionally, the defense will have more time to rest on the sideline if the offense is productive and keeping them on the bench.
The Washington Football Team endured a culture change last season by revamping the team on and off the field. Now in their second year under new management, they made a wise investment in a young playmaker like Curtis Samuel. There are blue skies ahead in the nation’s capital.
