Dallas Cowboys remain defensive in 7-Round NFL mock draft post-first wave free agency

Even if the Cowboys do end up signing Damontae Kazee, they’re going to need to add plenty of talent to their safety corps. For years, they’ve continued to look for players in the sixth round and while Xavier Woods and Donovan Wilson both exceeded expectations, neither have become Pro Bowl players.
Now, with Dan Quinn running the defense, there should be more of a focus on adding more talent to this group rather than looking for the diamond in the rough every year. With that being the end goal, they use their second-round pick on Oregon’s Jevon Holland.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 196-pounds, Holland was a ball hawk for the Ducks with nine picks in his first two seasons. He opted out of 2020 but that could serve to help Dallas by keeping him on the board until they’re on the clock here.
Ty Nsekhe is a good signing because it gives the Cowboys some insurance if Tyron Smith or La’el Collins were to suffer any more injuries in 2020. But they need to find a replacement for Smith long-term should the issues continue.
For that reason, they use their first of two picks in the third on Jackson Carman from Clemson. The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Carman blocked Trevor Lawrence’s blindside and should be given a shot at this position in the pros — even though some want him to kick inside to guard.
