Best season 2002:

  • 1,325 receiving
  • 78 receptions
  • 7 TDs

Plaxico Burress is remembered for both his clutch play on the field and one incredibly dumb moment off it.

Going into the 2007 Super Bowl, it was truly a case of David, a wild card team, and Goliath, the undefeated and seemingly unstoppable New England Patriots.

By now, just about everyone recalls the Giants picking up the victory but what sometimes gets forgotten is that Burress was the one who actually made the game-winning catch to score the touchdown. While he may have been considered a legend amongst New Yorkers, Burress was never given a Pro Bowl nod despite putting up great numbers.

His 2002 season in particular was amongst the best in the league. The wideout pulled in 78 receptions, scored seven times and left defenders in his dust for 1,325 yards. He also had four separate seasons in which he racked up over a thousand yards.

Burress’s placement on this list may not have come at all if it weren’t for the talented wide receiver shooting himself in the leg in a nightclub. Once he came back from the injury, he never appeared to be the same player and quickly fizzled out.

Before the unfortunate incident, however, Burress had more than enough great seasons to be selected to a Pro Bowl but simply fell short.
