25 best players to never make a Pro Bowl: 13. Ryan Longwell, K

Career stats:

  • 361 made field goals,
  • 83.18%

Best season 2000:

  • 10-10 field goals 30-39 yards
  • 13-15 field goals 40-49 yards
  • 3-5 field goals 50+
  • 86.8 field goal percentage

All Ryan Longwell wanted was a chance. After going undrafted in 1997, he found himself a home with the Green Bay Packers. From there, the rest is history.

Longwell was as reliable as it gets. In his first season, he nailed 80% of his kicks and knocked in one over 50 yards. When it came to his extra-point tries after his team scored a touchdown, Longwell was automatic.

For the majority of his career, Longwell hovered over 80% and was reliable as they come. But there were several seasons where he crept into the 90% range.

In 2009, Longwell converted on 92.86% of his kicks but even more eye-catching, he didn’t miss either of his two attempts from 50 or more yards and only missed one in the 40-49 range out of his nine tries.

While it was impressive, the campaign he put together in 2000 was otherworldly. Longwell didn’t miss from 30-39 yards. When his team couldn’t get any closer, there was nothing to worry about as he missed only one kick from 40-49 yards.

His 60% conversion rate from 50 plus yards was also impressive during the year.

Despite being so dependable, Longwell never made a Pro Bowl team and now finds himself on our list because of it.
