25 best players to never make a Pro Bowl: 25. Karlos Dansby, LB

Career stats:

  • 20 INTs
  • 1,422 total tackles

Best season 2013:

  • 122 total tackles
  • 6.5 sacks
  • 4 INTs

Kicking things off is a man who has no business on this list to begin with.

Karlos Dansby had an unbelievable career but one that never featured a trip to the Pro Bowl. The numbers Dansby accumulated during his 14 years were incredible. Just think, with a total of 1,422 tackles, he actually outpaced all-time great and 2018 Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher in that department.

For seven of his 14 years, Dansby made over 100 tackles. Also, in three separate seasons, he fell just short of the 100 tackle mark with just over 90. With his impressive numbers over the years, Dansby was still consistently snubbed for the Pro Bowl.

Although there is no excuse for it. His 2013 season was particularly mind-boggling. Dansby put together arguably his best campaign by racking up 122 tackles and 6.5 sacks. To make matters worst, Dansby outdid himself the year before when he wrapped up defenders for a total of 134 tackles.

In most cases, when a player reaches the latter part of their career, their production typically craters. For Dansby however, he piled up 108, 114 and 95 total tackles while playing in all 16 games in his final three seasons in the league.

There’s no reason why he shouldn’t have made a Pro Bowl team when he was smack dab in the middle of his prime but with the numbers he was able to put up when he was clearly past his best, you could easily make the argument that he still should have been given the nod even in his later years.
