25 best players to never make a Pro Bowl: 7. Julian Edelman, WR

Career stats:

  • 6,822 receiving yards
  • 620 receptions
  • 36 TDs

Best season 2019:

  • 1,117 receiving yards
  • 100 receptions
  • 6 TDs

Julian Edelman, like several other names on this list, is still an active player. There’s certainly a chance that he finally makes a Pro Bowl and removes himself from this list entirely but until then, he takes a comfortable seat at the table.

After starting off his career as a quarterback at Kent State University, Edelman made the move to punt returner and wide receiver once he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. By all accounts, it was the right choice as he’s been nearly impossible to cover in the slot.

With multiple thousand-yard seasons under his belt, it’s incredible to think that he hasn’t come close to actually making a Pro Bowl. Regardless of that glaring hole in his resume, Edelman has simply gone out and proven that he’s amongst the very best in the league as he has been apart of three Super Bowl winning teams.

Weirdly enough, Edelman also has Three Super Bowl titles to his name and a Super Bowl MVP. Despite all of the hardware currently on display in his New England home, Edelman is still rarely regarded as one of the best at his position. At the age of 34, it seems very unlikely that he’ll scratch that Pro Bowl goal off his list either.
