25 best players to never make a Pro Bowl: 19. Mario Addison, DE

Career stats:

  • 252 total tackles
  • 60 sacks

Best season 2017:

  • 44 total tackles
  • 11 sacks

When you are considered one of the very best at your position, you should always be rewarded with a trip to the Pro Bowl. Yet, for Mario Addison, DE for the Carolina Panthers, he has continued to see the short end of the stick.

Addison started off his career incredibly slow. In fact, in his first two seasons, he managed to sack the quarterback only once and was thrown around the league as he was traded from team to team. It wasn’t until 2013 rolled around where Addison could find a small level of comfort.

That year, his two and a half sacks and eight tackles weren’t impressive, but it signaled that if given the opportunity, he could make a few positive plays.

Over the years, his playing continued to increase and so did his production. By far his best year came in the 2017 campaign. Addison tormented quarterbacks that year to the tune of 11 sacks. He also managed to score 44 tackles as well.

That year was effectively his last best chance to make the Pro Bowl team. While he’s still a decent player today, as his five sacks and 30 tackles would indicate, he is declining and his time as one of the better pass rushers appears to be over.
