The Packers offensive line has taken some big hits and needs to be rebuilt, a goal that’s accomplished in this 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft for Green Bay.

Fresh off of an NFC Championship Game appearance for the second-straight year, the Green Bay Packers could’ve tried to be super aggressive in the 2021 offseason. But early in free agency, that has not been the way they’ve chosen to approach things. In fact, Green Bay has yet to sign an outside free agent after re-upping Aaron Jones, Kevin King and Marcedes Lewis.

That could obviously still change as there are quality players on the market who would plug holes for the Packers and do so at great value. However, it’s also just as likely that the franchise is going to look to fill holes at right tackle, in the secondary, and throughout the rest of both sides of the ball through the 2021 NFL Draft.

Again, it would be wise for Green Bay to clear up some more money, likely through restructuring Aaron Rodgers’ contract (and committing to him beyond 2021). However, the team is in a Super Bowl window and needs the draft to actually help them this coming season, unlike the majority of the class they brought in last year.

With that in mind, let’s break down what the Packers can accomplish in this mock draft after their quiet start to free agency.

When you look at the top of the offensive tackle class, you’re going to see some absolute freaks — said in the most positive context possible. Guys like Penei Sewell, Rashawn Slater and Christian Darrisaw are monsters in the way that they are able to move at their size and what that means for their potential to be offensive tackles in the NFL.

Make no mistake, you are not going to see Notre Dame star Liam Eichenberg in that mold. He’s not the same athlete and that’s evident on his film. But what you also see on his tape with the Fighting Irish is perhaps the most polished and smartest lineman in the entire class who also happens to be blessed with size, power and a bit of underrated deftness in his feet.

There aren’t many players who have the bulk and body to go through Eichenberg and, though speed rushers have some juice to get around him, he’s put enough on tape to make you believe that he will work out ways to lessen the impact of that given his elite football IQ.

Green Bay found a gem previously in Bryan Bulaga before they let the veteran walk in free agency. They tried to replace him with Rick Wagner but now they can actually do so with a player who is very much a football doppelganger in Eichenberg.
